Pediatric CranioSacral Therapy in Surrey | Ages 4+

As children transition into preschool and elementary school, their bodies face a new set of physical and environmental stressors. From long hours sitting at school desks and increased screen use to navigating sensory-heavy environments and rapid growing spurts, a child's nervous system can easily become overwhelmed.

At our Surrey practice, CranioSacral Therapy (CST) provides a non-invasive, exceptionally gentle manual therapy approach to support your child’s structural development, physical mobility, and nervous system balance.

How Gentle Massage Therapy Supports Growing Kids

Because this approach utilizes less than 5 grams of pressure (roughly the physical weight of a nickel), it is safe, completely non-invasive, and deeply relaxing for young bodies. Parents across Surrey frequently seek out pediatric CST to help support a variety of developmental and physical phases:

Somatic Relaxation & Stress Support: Helping down-regulate physical holding patterns and body-mapped tension for children who experience sensory overwhelm, encouraging a transition into a peaceful state of physical rest.

Restful Sleep Cycles: Easing structural restlessness and musculoskeletal tightness to help active kids unwind physically before bedtime, supporting deep, restorative nighttime sleep.

Postural Alignment & School Strain: Relieving deep myofascial tension along the spine and neck caused by prolonged sitting at school desks, carrying heavy backpacks, and early screen habits.

Orthodontic & Dental Transition Strain: Relieving structural jaw tightness and facial muscle tension associated with losing baby teeth, incoming adult teeth, or the physical pressure of early orthodontic expanders and braces.

Digital Strain & Screen-Time Fatigue: Easing deep neck muscle guarding and physical tension around the forehead and temples caused by prolonged tablet, computer, or gaming screen use.

Persistent Ear Pressure & Fluid Dynamics: Addressing subtle mechanical restrictions in the soft tissues surrounding the ears, jaw, and neck fascia to support the natural fluid drainage pathways of the head.

Gross Motor Coordination & Physical Growth Phases: Easing deep fascial tightness along the hips, spine, and pelvic girdle to support fluid movement and body awareness for active children navigating rapid "clumsy" growth spurts.

Gait Alignment & Toe-Walking Compensations: Addressing structural fascial tightness along the spine and lower extremities that can mechanically pull on the calves and heels, helping manage the musculoskeletal compensations associated with persistent toe-walking habits.

Mouth-Breathing & Jaw Alignment Support: Relaxing deep muscle guarding in the neck, jaw, and floor of the mouth to support natural tongue posture and unhindered movement of the jaw—serving as a gentle complement for families working with myofunctional therapies.

Speech Mechanics Structural Support: Easing compensatory muscle guarding in the jaw, neck, and base of the skull to support a free, unhindered mechanical range of motion for oral-motor movement.

Physical Abdominal Bracing: Relieving physical muscular guarding and fascial tightness in the abdominal wall and diaphragm, which children frequently develop as a physical holding pattern during times of school-related stress or environmental overwhelm.

Post-Injury & Post-Cast Physical Recovery: Addressing long-held structural holding patterns and compensatory muscle guarding that linger after typical childhood playground tumbles, sports impacts, minor sprains, or recovery from a cast or splint.

A Note On Your Care: This list highlights common structural holding patterns that  may respond to CranioSacral Therapy, supporting natural alignment and physical ease. Manual therapy is complementary to your family's healthcare plan. RMTs do not diagnose medical conditions; please consult a qualified medical professional for any acute or underlying medical concerns.

For Parents: What a Child-Led Session Looks Like

Parents often ask: “Will my child have to lie perfectly still on a massage table?” The answer is no.

Your RMT understands that children are naturally active. Our pediatric sessions are entirely child-led, flexible, and interactive to match your child's comfort level:
